What is the MSEI?

The Department of National Defence (DND) recognizes the challenges you face as a military spouse or common-law partner in finding and maintaining meaningful employment, when facing frequent relocations. In response, DND established the MSEI to provide military spouses and common-law partners with enhanced employment opportunities to pursue your career and develop your skills.

This initiative gives you an opportunity to access meaningful employment in a broad range of work streams that match your experience, skills and interests—within DND and all other federal government departments and agencies. The MSEI inventory covers a broad range of work streams. The available work streams are listed in the Important messages section. Other work streams may become available based on operational requirements.

STEP 3: What happens next? ✅ The MSEI Team identifies applicants to hiring managers.

Once your eligibility is confirmed, you will be a registered applicant in the MSEI employment inventory and will be marketed to hiring managers within the DND and other federal government departments and agencies.

Managers with job vacancies will contact the MSEI Team and provide a summary of their job requirements, including the education, experience, and language requirements, as well as the location of the position. Based on this information, the MSEI team conducts a thorough search of all applications in the inventory to identify those which match the job requirements. Those applications are then shared with the hiring manager for further consideration and/or assessment.
