Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory process. The intent of this selection process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates that may be used to staff anticipated position(s) at Downsview or Burlington with various tenures (Indeterminate, Determinate, Deployment, Acting, Assignment and Extensions) and with various security profiles (Reliability or Secret).

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.

Note:
The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Experience participating on teams or working groups responsible for environmental program delivery and outcomes.

• Experience working with, and consulting internal and external stakeholders for environmental program delivery and outcomes.

Asset Qualifications

Education:
A post-graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in science.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Experience in leading teams.

• Experience in working within one or more of the following areas:
o Regulatory program delivery such as compliance promotion, impact assessment or environmental effects monitoring
o Expert or technical support to an environmental protection program.
o Experience in developing or implementing strategies or plans aimed at improving compliance to regulations.
o Experience with impact assessment project reviews

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of environmental protection legislation administered by Environment and Climate Change Canada.
• Knowledge of the principles and processes of assessing environmental impacts of projects and activities.

Abilities :
• Ability to review scientific and technical information to assess environmental impacts, provide recommendations and/or determine compliance with legislation.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

Operational Requirements:
• Willing and able to work overtime on occasion.
