1) Administrative Assistant (CR04): The Administrative Assistant is integral to providing not only administrative support and to the Field Unit but also provides reception duties including providing advice and information to the public.

2) Anticipatory - Executive Assistant (AS01): The Executive Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the Field Unit Superintendent and Management Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for tracking and coordinating the flow of information and documents, resolving routine administrative problems, conducting preliminarily analysis of information and other general administrative tasks. This position is located in Iqaluit, NU

Work environment

Parks Canada Agency is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

In Nunavut, Inuit and Parks Canada cooperatively manage five national parks, one national historic site and one national marine conservation area. They are: Auyuittuq National Park, Sirmilik National Park, Qausuittuq National Park, Quttinirpaaq National Park, Ukkusiksalik National Park, the Wrecks of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror National Historic Site and Tallurutiup Imanga National Marine Conservation Area. Long before these areas received federal protection, Inuit lived, harvested and travelled these lands and waters. Many staff have connections to these places through their families and ancestors. To this day, harvesting and use by Inuit remains a protected right under the Nunavut Agreement. As a Parks Canada team member in Nunavut, you will help protect, present and share these incredible places so they remain for generations, by implementing the Nunavut Agreement and Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreements.

- 1.0 fte indeterminate position located in Naujaat, NU.
- 1.0 fte term position in Pangnirtung, NU with possibility of extension. (Anticipatory)

(Stream 2) Anticipatory: AS01 Executive Assistant: to fill possible vacancies in Iqaluit, NU

This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures including: indeterminate, acting, assignment, and specified period , full-time or part-time, with various security levels or linguistic requirements in same or other parts of Nunavut and Canada.

• A high school diploma or public service commission-approved OR an acceptable combination of training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

-Experience providing administrative support services* in an office environment
-Experience in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.
-Experience arranging meetings, recording minutes, or preparing meeting reports

*Administrative support services are defined as, but not limited to: managing agendas, scheduling and organizing meetings and teleconferences, preparing and filing files for meetings and related documentation, obtaining office equipment and supplies, maintaining a filing system, and other related duties.

Experience (Asset):

Stream 1 (CR04):
•Experience writing, formatting and reviewing correspondence or reports
•Experience in the providing administrative services to middle management or senior level managers
•Experience preparing and coordinating travel arrangements or processing travel claims

Steam 2 (AS01):
•Experience providing administrative support services* in an office environment this experience must be for at least one (1) year full-time)

*Administrative support services are defined as, but not limited to: managing agendas, scheduling and organizing meetings and teleconferences, preparing and filing files for meetings and related documentation, obtaining office equipment and supplies, maintaining a filing system, and other related duties.
