Intent of the process

When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who have expressed interest in a particular directorate and level will be contacted and provided with information related to the position(s) being staffed and will then be able to provide specific information requested at that time.

The ISTB of the CBSA is trying this new approach to create a repository of fully or partially qualified candidates who would be interested in joining our dynamic community. You may be able to start and finish your application in under one hour!

You do not have to provide narrative answers to screening questions at this time. Take the time to read what each of the divisions in our organization does (under work environment) and then answer all the questions that you are prompted to answer with a yes or no response only. These questions will ask you to tell us directorates you are interested in and what levels of positions are of interest to you.

As positions are identified, we will extract applications based on candidate responses to the questions as indicated above. If selected, you will be contacted with the specific experience requirements of the position being staffed. This will enable you to tailor your response to the specific requirement and answer a few questions related to some of the competencies. Those that respond with acceptable information and that meet certain requirements may be contacted to advance directly to an interview.

What makes this process different from other job advertisements? If your application is not selected for one job, your application remains in the inventory and could be selected again for other job opportunities that come up while the inventory remains open. As an applicant, you will be contacted with additional opportunities and be given the chance to customize your information for the positions of interest to you.

Indeterminate employees at the same group and level or equivalent may be considered for deployment.

In order to meet our organizational needs, a preference may be given to members of Employment Equity groups: Persons with a disability, indigenous persons, members of visible minorities or women.
