SU-01 - Full-time opportunities. Employment dates range from May 2022 to early September 2022 (possible part-time employment from September 2022 to October 2022).
You must be available to work throughout all the summer season to be selected for a student position.
Salary to be determined at the time of the hire and is based on the current academic level of the student. Please note that the Northern New Brunswick Field Unit uses its own pay grid.

Who can apply: To be eligible, you must be:

• A secondary or post-secondary student in an accredited institution;
• Currently recognized as having student status by the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled;
• Returning to studies in the next academic term. Please provide proof if available;

Assessment accommodation

On November 8th, 2021, the Parks Canada Agency announced the details of its vaccination requirement for all employees.

As per the Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for Parks Canada Agency, employees must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate, determinate (term), casual, as and when required, and student hiring (full-time, part-time and seasonal). Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to ensure terms and conditions of employment are met, the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete a vaccination attestation form.

Students will be required to cover all travel expenses to and from the location of work.

Duties

Events - Support in the coordination and delivery of festivals, events and activities at Kouchibouguac National Park.

Assistant Interpreter - To assist interpreters in preparing and delivering various interpretation programs at Kouchibouguac National Park.

Visitor Services – Visitor Information Centre / Entrance Gates / Camping- Welcome visitors in person or over the phone and give them information and directions regarding facilities, services, programs, events and regulations. Record, process and collect fees, issue permits, make reimbursements, sell and assign campsites where applicable. Work with a cash register, compile and record statistical data, fill out forms, sales reports and bank deposits, and use a computer system or point of sale and booking system, cleans and maintains Parks Canada Agency buildings/facilities, helps with the sale of firewood, help with equipment rental (bike, canoe, kayak, etc.).

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to hire students for summer 2022 at Kouchibouguac National Park of Canada. The exact number of opportunities available is to be determined.

Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/ territorial holidays;
Possession of a valid Driver's license;
Possession of a valid First Aid and CPR certification;
Knowledge of how to read and follow instructions for the use of cleaning products.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

All Parks Canada Agency employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and attest to their vaccination status unless accommodated based on a medical contraindication, religion, or another prohibited ground of discrimination as defined under the Canadian Human Rights Act;
Reliability Status security clearance;
Parks Canada prohibits smoking in the workplace;
