Update: On June 14, 2022, the Government of Canada announced that it was suspending vaccination mandates across the federal public service. As a result on June 20, 2022, the Policy on Vaccination has been suspended until further notice. You will be required to demonstrate how you meet the education and experience criteria for the initial screening, in answering online screening questions. It is NOT sufficient to only state that the qualifications are met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities. Rather, you must clearly demonstrate HOW, WHEN and WHERE the qualification was met through substantiation by examples. Information on your described education and experience provided in the screening questions should be supported by your résumé. Should you indicate in your response "please refer to résumé" your application will be rejected. Failure to provide the above information in the format required may result in your application being rejected from the process.

- Delivery of administrative support services in one or more of the following fields: finance, human resources, office management, information management, executive services, procurement, contracting, research support or program/project management.
- Applies and explains administrative policies, procedures and directives related to one or more fields and verifies that these directives are adhered to.
- Manipulates and inputs data and generates documents, reports, correspondence, records, etc.
- Develops filing systems based on predetermined parameters; updates and maintains files.
- Performs administrative duties such as composing correspondence, developing and maintaining B/F and tracking systems, maintaining agendas, making travel arrangements, reception, preparing routine responses to enquiries, bringing urgent issues to the attention of management, distributing mail, ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies and coordinating logistical activities.

Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates for future needs. The pool may be used to staff similar positions on a permanent (indeterminate) or temporary basis (specified period or casual employment).
The first application extraction will take place on June 27,2022. The subsequent extractions will take place on a "as and when needed" basis.
When you submit an application for this selection process, you are not applying for any specific position, but to an inventory in anticipation of future vacancies. As positions become available, the applicants meeting the initial screening requirements identified by the hiring manager may be contacted and referred for consideration. Please ensure that your information is updated and remains current in your PSRS Applicant Account.
Your application in this inventory will be active for 3 months. A notice that your application is about to expire will be posted to the My jobs menu of your account 10 days before the end of your active period. If you do not take action, your application will no longer be active and therefore no longer considered for this inventory. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.
*The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience providing client services.
Recent experience using software programs to prepare documents, spreadsheets and electronic communications (email, MS Teams, etc).
Experience providing *administrative support services in an office environment.
* Administrative support services refers to activities that support the day to day operations of an organization; these generally include (but are not limited to) scheduling, managing and distributing information within the office, entering/tracking information in databases, answering phones, booking travel, managing meeting logistics, electronic information management, scanning documents, tracking budget expenses, minutes, etc.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.
Interested persons must meet each essential qualification to be appointed to the position; however, a person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. Meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Please note that assets may be used at the screening stage.

In assessing candidates, assessment boards may use a variety of tools and methods including, but not limited to, reviews of past performance and accomplishments, written tests, interviews, PSC tests and reference checks. Assessments may be conducted through a third-party's online platform. In addition, all information obtained throughout the selection process, from the time of application to close of process, may be used to evaluate the candidates.
As part of this selection process you must provide proof of your education credentials. You will be advised to provide the documents later in the process. If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your certificates and/or diplomas assessed against Canadian education standards. This will enable you to provide proof of Canadian equivalency when applying for a job in the public service. Random selection may be used.
A top-down screening approach may be undertaken. Only the top ranking candidates may be invited to the assessment phase of the process.
Please note that for candidates applying from outside the public service, the Department will not reimburse travel expenses linked to the assessment process; however, every reasonable effort will be made to minimize travel costs for candidates who will undergo assessment.
Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
