Pharmacists are key members of the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) Health Services team.
They are responsible for the provision of essential pharmacy services for offenders under CSC custody and supervision, while assisting in the operation of Regional Pharmacies. CSC pharmacists ensure the correct and safe supply of medical products to offenders, according to professionally accepted standards. They are trained in all aspects of medication handling, including:

• Medication profile maintenance;
• Drug therapy;
• Drug interactions;
• Side effects.

CSC Pharmacists participate to the selection of optimal, cost effective drug therapy. On site institutional visits may be required to help achieve pharmaceutical care plan goals. With an overall objective of improving the status of Canada's federal inmate population, CSC pharmacists work closely with other members of the health care team (nurses, physicians, psychiatrists) to ensure appropriate review and follow-up of pharmaceutical care strategies. CSC Health Services provides the same range of pharmacy services that can be found in a community setting, while specializing in services that reflect the needs of the inmate population. Your work as a pharmacist with CSC will support public safety by helping offenders reintegrate into the community after receiving professional treatment appropriate for their health needs.
