To be eligible, you must be: a full-time secondary or post-secondary student in an accredited institution; currently recognized as having full-time student status by the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled; returning to full-time studies in the next academic term; and be at least 14 years of age.

In the covering letter, applicants must clearly demonstrate the following:

SU-01 Grounds Maintenance Student
Provides general maintenance and labour services working on trails, gardens, grounds, roads and solid waste management and related facilities maintenance; support trades staff in construction and installations; and other general maintenance and repair requirements as directed.

SU-02 Student Heritage Presenter
Responsible for learning and delivering education programs, presenting interpretive demonstrations, leading guided tours, assisting with the development and presentation of special events, acting as an ambassador for the site (both on-site and off-site), working on the site’s point of sale system as well as other related activities. Note – for positions requiring historic weapons safety requirements, the minimum age requirement is 16.

SU-03 Student Visitor Facilities Attendant
Cleans and maintains visitor facilities and grounds including washrooms, reception centres, campsites and picnic areas. Daily tasks may include cleaning, litter pick-up, emptying of trash or recycling bins. It also involves interaction with park visitors to provide basic information and direction.

SU-04 Student Visitor Services Attendant
Greeting visitors, issuing entry passes and collecting fees at visitor centres, entry gates, day use areas and retail locations, to enhance visitor experience. This includes providing comprehensive information to the visiting public on a wide variety of topics including but not limited to: campgrounds, trails, points of interest, safety, wilderness travel, park regulations and policies, selling a variety of passes, and properly accounting for revenue received.

SU-05 Social Media, Promotions and Outreach Student
Generate social media content and monitor social media activity, promote engagement of our online audiences. Produce video and photos to promote Parks Canada places and messages, participate in outreach events on behalf of Parks Canada, provide graphic design, video editing and photo support for the external relations team and support various external relations initiatives as needed.
Fluency in languages other than English and French is an asset.

SU-06 Resource Conservation Student
Resource Conservation Students support parks' ecological integrity monitoring, ecological restoration projects, active management, and species at risk programs by assisting in data collection, recording and invasive species control following established protocols. The job also includes data entry and preparation of summary reports. The work requires sound knowledge and application of scientific principles/procedures and evaluation of natural resource data. Students will be expected handle wildlife, travel via boats and vehicles, and to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

SU-07 Finance Student
Provides administrative and operational support services and related information in support of Finance & Administration within the Field Unit including daily collection of deposits from point of sales, bank deposits, coin orders for kiosk staff, mail / courier shipping and receiving, reconciling & auditing cash outs, filing receipts and managing keys and office equipment distribution and tracking.

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada's outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

Successful applicants will be confident, have strong communication skills, and be able to follow detailed instructions.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to hire students for summer 2021. The exact number of positions available is to be determined. Opportunities are 37.5 or 40 hours per week.
