This position is located in Toronto; however, the successful candidate may work from one of the OSFI offices across Canada (Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, or Vancouver).
As a result of the global pandemic, OSFI employees are currently working from home. Should the current telework environment no longer apply, and contingent on the operating model adopted by OSFI, you may be required to report into and work onsite from one of the following offices: Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, or Vancouver. The Director provides specialty technology and cyber risk expertise in identifying FRFI-specific risks, industry-wide risks and sector specific trends and developments related to technology and cyber risks that may impact a FRFI’s operational resilience. TRD expertise includes supervisory reviews in the area of technology and cyber risks, technology crisis reporting, cyber incident response and in-depth understanding and assessments of threats to any process or function that involves systems, data, infrastructure, networks, cyber security and digital technology impacting DTIs, insurers and pension plans.
OSFI is an independent federal government agency that regulates and supervises more than 400 federally regulated financial institutions and 1,200 pension plans to determine whether they are in sound financial condition. In fulfilling its mandate, OSFI supports the government's objective of contributing to public confidence in the Canadian financial system.

💵 Compensation: OSFI offers a competitive salary, and employees may be eligible for in-range increases and economic adjustments. Salaries are based on qualifications, experience and knowledge. The Public Service Pension Plan is a defined benefit pension plan (indexed for inflation), where both the employer and the employee contribute.

Intent of the process
The immediate need is to staff one position with a language requirement of English essential on an indeterminate basis.
A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates may be created to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic profiles and requirements, security requirements and various tenures within the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

Information you must provide
In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
• A degree from a post-secondary institution with specialization in information technology, information security, computer science, computer engineering, commerce, business, finance, economics, mathematics or other relevant field OR an acceptable combination of relevant professional industry experience and education.
• **Recent and ***significant experience related to the assessment of technology risk and cyber risk in the financial services industry* in one or more of the following areas: Business or Technology Operations, system or data analysis, risk management, or a related control function (i.e. information security, disaster recovery processes, operational risk, internal or external IT audit e.g. application audit, cyber security audit, IT governance, operational risk audit).
• Experience in report writing.
• Experience in coaching, managing or leading teams of people.
• ***Significant experience making presentations to ****Senior Management.
• Experience in leading and managing *****large and complex projects.
*Financial services industry experience is defined as experience working in one or more of the following areas: (a) financial institutions including banks, trust and loan companies, and insurance companies (b) firms dealing with audits or consulting engagements to such institutions (including reinsurance brokers) (c) technology and data companies providing services to financial institutions or linked to the delivery of financial services (d) government departments that directly deal with the supervision and regulation of these institutions (e) First Nation Institutions including: Band operations, trustees or administrators of pension plans, lending institutions or other related areas providing financial services (f) other relevant areas.
** Recent is defined as having acquired the experience within the last 8 years.
*** Significant is defined as having the depth and breadth of experience that is normally acquired by performing the tasks over a period of approximately six (6) years. Candidates must clearly demonstrate their roles and responsibilities pertaining to this experience.
**** Senior Management is defined as REX-08, EX-02 or equivalent (2nd level) and above, within the executive group.
***** Large and complex project is defined by a multi-million budget involving a standing offer, with various internal and external stakeholders, with high stakes and impacts and where the length could range from 3 to 5 years.
