The projected start date is May 1, 2022 with an end date of August 31, 2022 (or depending on the candidate's availability or needs) with the possibility of extension to part-time in the Fall. It is expected that the student will work 37.5 hours per week.
$16.49 to $24.77 per hour (Varies as per level of education and experience.)

Duties

The successful candidate will assist with research projects/activities under field and laboratory conditions.
Collecting data and samples for water and climate related work (i.e. water, soil, plant and gas).
Using monitoring equipment (i.e. weather stations, environmental sensors, probes, etc.)
Manage data and conduct analysis.

Work environment

The work involves field and lab work at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Truro/Bible Hill, NS as well as on-farm research sites in the Atlantic region.

Education:
Currently enrolled in a B.Sc., program from a recognized post-secondary academic institution with specialization in environmental science, environmental management, agriculture, earth science, plant science or related program.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience* in data collection and conducting field work.
Experience* in taking soil, water, and/or gas samples.
Experience* using spreadsheet and analysis programs such as Excel.

*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.

Reliability Status security clearance - Each student hired through the Research Affiliate Program (RAP) must meet the security requirements of the position as a condition of employment, and therefore will be asked by the hiring organization to complete security-relevant documents.
