Intent of the process

This process is intended to fill existing vacancy(ies) and may be used to fill anticipated vacancy(ies) and/or used to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures (Indeterminate, Acting, Assignment, Deployment, Secondment, Specified period, Seasonal), security levels or linguistic profiles in same or other parts of Parks Canada Agency.

Education:
No specific education requirement is prescribed for this position, but any type of qualification or training considered necessary by the manager may be applicable.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

• Experience in providing cleaning services in a commercial or institutional environment
• Experience in maintaining/restocking supplies
• Experience in performing minor operational maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing light bulbs, tightening door handles and hinges)

• Knowledge of how to read and follow instructions for the use of cleaning products
• Knowledge of how to apply health and safety procedure at the work site

Operational Requirements:

The position requires the incumbent to:
• Conduct repetitive tasks
• Stand, bend, stretch and work from ladders
• Lift supplies, tools and equipment such as buckets
• Dust and wash walls and windows
• Pick up litter and trash
• Travel to various outdoor sites with some exposure to weather elements
• Be exposed to noxious odors from cleaning products
• Be exposed to minor injury when performing cleaning and maintenance activities
• Occasionally demonstrate tasks to others

Candidates must meet all the essential qualifications to be appointed to a position.

You may be assessed using a variety of assessment tools, such as, but not limited to: written exams, interviews, reference checks, recent and past performance evaluations, self-assessments, candidate achievement record, etc.

Please note that your overall conduct and communications, including email correspondence, throughout the entire process may be used in the assessment of qualifications.

Please note that achieving the pass mark on any of the assessments used does not mean you will move forward in the selection process. Management may decide to use a score that is higher than the pass mark on any of the evaluations used throughout the selection process. Management may also decide to use top-down selection at any stage of the process.

Depending on the position(s) to be staffed, additional qualifications may be used by the hiring manager(s). Candidates will be provided with the opportunity to submit all relevant information and will be informed prior to being assessed in relation to other qualifications that may apply.
