Duties

Pukaskwa National Park is looking for individuals who are able to work efficiently with variable workloads, and are adaptable to changing demands and priorities. Effective interpersonal skills are essential in this position. Cleaners are expected to inspect and clean Parks Canada employee work areas, public areas, restrooms, and grounds of the respective Parks Canada locations (including litter picking, recycling, shoveling snow).

This position may involve shift work, weekends, holidays, overtime, and work in adverse weather conditions. The job requires the willingness and ability to perform physical and repetitive work, safely use and handle chemicals, and provide prompt and courteous service to the clients and Parks visitors. The work requires that employees be alert, conscientious and punctual. This position will require staff to stay current with all of the Parks Canada COVID-19 cleaning recommendations.

Pukaskwa National Park is a vast and natural playground found on the edge of the world’s largest freshwater lake. It’s a place where powerful waves collide with rugged, towering coastlines; a place of endless sunsets over sandy driftwood beaches. A place where everyone can catch a glimpse of the rich traditions, values and contemporary life of the Anishinaabe. Pukaskwa National Park is a place where Lake Superior’s untouched beauty can be seen, experienced and remembered by all who visit.

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada's outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

Intent of the process

The results of this process will be used to fill potential vacancy(ies) as an inventory of As and When worker.
This list will be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff future vacancies at the GS-BUS-02 group and level with various tenures (indeterminate, seasonal, temporary, full-time, part-time), security levels or linguistic requirements in same or other parts of the country. Isolated Post may apply as defined by the Parks Canada Isolated Post Policy. Future vacancies could be seasonal, term or indeterminate.

• Stand, bend, stretch and work from ladders or step stools,

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

• Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License,
• Willing and able to work weekends, shift work, statutory holidays and overtime, if required,
• Willing and able to travel and work in a variety of climatic and geographical conditions in Northern Ontario Field Unit,
• Willing and able to wear identifier clothing and safety equipment and follow safety procedures,
• Willing and able to perform strenuous physical activity effectively and safely,
• When position is located in area classed as isolated and remote, a pre-employment medical examination of an individual and his/her dependants may be required.
