This inventory is targeted to individuals who will self-declare as an Aboriginal person when applying on this inventory. The Indigenous Initiatives Directorate (IID) develops strategic plans and priorities for Indigenous corrections and champions policy, interventions, programs, and services, such as healing lodges, community support, the use of culturally appropriate restorative options, Elder involvement and much more!

Through ongoing collaboration, knowledge transfer and partnerships, our dynamic team works toward tackling the overrepresentation of Indigenous people in the correctional system and supporting the successful reintegration of Indigenous offenders into the community through the Indigenous Continuum of Care model. Correctional Service Canada (CSC) provides Indigenous offenders with support through spiritual and cultural teachings and by offering culturally relevant:

Duties

AS-01: Provides administrative support to staff and management.
AS-02: Provides administrative support to senior management.
AS-03: Analyzes issues, plans and policies in order to provide advice to clients.
AS-04: Completes Indigenous community engagement activities OR data extraction and reporting.
AS-05: Monitors institutional programming.
AS-06: Develops national policy and strategic plans as well as provides advice and guidance.
AS-07: Oversees the day to day operations of a unit, including supervision of a team.

Work environment

The IID is in a unique position within the department, because of its involvement in Indigenous matters on all levels. Team members work towards achieving government priorities, as well as influencing the work of frontline staff and the lives of Indigenous offenders.

The person(s) selected will have the chance to increase their knowledge and experience with applying an Indigenous lens to programs and policy. With a management team supportive of professional development opportunities and a wide range of work responsibilities, employees can acquire and enhance transferable skills useful to propel their career.

Intent of the process

Although the immediate intent is to staff positions in Ottawa Ontario, applicants should be aware that a pool of candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions.

There are currently five (5) available positions. Position availability will be updated as positions become available.
