Duties

Work locations could be Johnston Canyon/Bow Valley Parkway, Two Jack/Minnewanka or Tunnel Mountain.

Visitor Facilities Attendant Duties (GS-BUS-02): Cleans and maintains Parks Canada Agency campground and day use area buildings, facilities and grounds. This includes but is not limited to the daily cleaning of; campground washroom facilities, day use area washrooms/pit privies, campsite cleaning/maintenance, grounds cleaning and litter picking, emptying of trash and recycling receptacles. It also involves interaction with park visitors to provide basic information and direction.

Visitor Services Attendant Duties (GS-MPS-04): Visitor service, revenue collection and daily cleaning/maintenance at campgrounds & day use areas to enhance the visitor’s experience. This includes but is not limited to greeting visitors and providing orientation, information and direction; confirming reservations; selling of campsites; daily cleaning of campground washroom and other facilities, day use area washrooms/pit privies, campsite cleaning/maintenance, grounds cleaning and litter picking and emptying of trash and recycling receptacles.

Visitor Services Lead Hand Duties (GS-MPS04/A1): All the same duties as Facility and Service Attendants. Takes the lead as a member of a work crew; communicates what has to be accomplished; identifies tools and material to be used; sets the work pace; and explains work to new crew members.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Willing and able to work shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and travel to various outdoor sites with some exposure to various weather conditions
• Willing and able to perform tasks such as: lifting heavy items, picking litter, custodial tasks and campsite maintenance
• Willing and able to dust, wash walls and windows. Clean washrooms.
• Willing and able to conduct repetitive tasks
• Willing and able to stand for extended periods of time, bend, stretch and work from ladders or step stools
• Willing and able to be exposed to noxious odors from cleaning products and primitive rest facilities
• Willing and able to demonstrate tasks to others

Conditions of employment

MUST BE MET PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT

• Obtain and maintain Reliability Status including fingerprints
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Alberta class 5 driver’s license or equivalent
• Willing and able to wear identifier clothing and personal safety equipment
