Work environment

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.

In joining the Internal Audit and Evaluation Sector as an Internal Audit Project Leader, you will contribute to the provision of independent, timely and objective assurance and consulting services to senior management at CSC. We are building a strong, vibrant, and diverse team of professionals.

Intent of the process

Although the immediate intent of this Job Opportunity Advertisement is to staff indeterminately, applicants should be aware that a pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements listed in the Language Requirements section. In addition, this process may be used for various tenures (acting appointments, assignment, deployment, indeterminate, specified period, secondment), security requirements and conditions of employment within the Correctional Service of Canada. EDUCATION

EEDU1: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in a discipline relevant to the position, such as but not limited to business, public administration, commerce or economics.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

EEX1: Significant* experience in the planning, conduct and reporting of audit projects.
EEX2: Experience supervising the work of staff.
EEX3: Experience communicating information to senior management through oral and written presentations and briefings.

Notes:
*Significant experience refers to the complexity and diversity of cases handled and the level of autonomy demonstrated which is normally associated with the performance of the duties for approximately two (2) years.

KNOWLEDGE

EK1: Knowledge of the Internal Audit Treasury Board Policy suite.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

AEDU1: A professional internal auditing designation (Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGPA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)) or a recognized professional accounting designation (Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified General Accountant (CGA)).

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

AEX1: Experience in data analytics.
AEX2: Experience in using audit software such as TeamMate, ACL or IDEA.
AEX3: Experience in the conduct of internal audits in the Public Sector.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Willingness and ability to travel.
