Duties

SUMMARY OF TASKS:

• Maintain the land and the various buildings of the lighthouse station
• Scrape and mow the lawn
• Weeding flowers, shrubs and alleys
• General field maintenance tasks based on operational requirements (e.g., garbage, janitorial duties, equipment maintenance)
• Housekeeping of the various buildings and offices
• Sweep, clean floors, empty garbage cans, dust, etc.
• Assisting other employees in the performance of related tasks

Work environment

You have a basic knowledge of workplace safety measures, you are able to perform tasks with minimal supervision within set deadlines, you have a good ability to solve operational problems and organize your workload, you have the ability to use a variety of tools (e.g. mower, small power tools, shovel, rake. etc.) Apply now!

Located in Rimouski, Pointe-au-Père Lighthouse National Historic Site was one of the largest navigational assistance stations in Canada. Today, it provides a better understanding of the complexity of the river and the role played by its lighthouse, one of the tallest in the country.

Intent of the process

The intention of this process is to hire one (1) maintenance worker student for the summer of 2023.

EDUCATION :

• Be recognized as a full-time or part time student by an educational institution

• Have completed in spring 2023, a year of postsecondary education or a year of university.

Degree equivalency

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

French essential
or bilingual.

Conditions of employment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT AND OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s licence
- Ability to travel to the workplace by its own means
- Able to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends, statutory holidays, provincial–territorial holidays as required
- Be available throughout the operational period (see specifications section)
- Wear Parks Canada uniform (provided by the employer) as required by the Agency
- Obtain and maintain the required reliability status
