Are you a cook and would like to pass on your knowledge? We are looking for cooks on a casual basis to work on the preparation of meals for inmates in the various institutions of the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) in the Quebec region. Cooks are also called upon to transmit basic kitchen techniques to incarcerated people in order to enable them to improve their employability. The working days are variable, on day shifts.

You are contacted for an interview. This interview will be to explain the job, work environment, and may be used to confirm/address any of the qualifications listed below. This will also be your opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the work.
Step 4:
If you are selected, you will be contacted to complete the Security screening. Once completed, a letter of offer will be provided.
Duties
Provision of meals to offenders in an institution of the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC).
Supervision and training of offenders in the area of Food Services to improve their employability skills and behaviours.
Work environment
Institutional kitchen in a carceral environment.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience
and
Professional culinary arts diploma or acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
EXPERIENCE :
*Recent experience working as a short order and/or large quantity cook in a commercial or institutional setting. (* within the last 5 years).
If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)
EDUCATION:
Possession of a valid recognized Safe Food Handling Program certification.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience working with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) procedures.
Experience working in a correctional environment (institutional or community office).
Experience as a team leader responsible for a team of employees.
Experience using a foods services information management software.
