Duties

Join Elections Canada as a Communications Officer within the Civic Education program. In this role, you will develop, deliver and communicate about resources and tools that support educators in teaching about elections and democracy. The program maintains its own dedicated social media channels and website: electionsanddemocracy.ca.

Your duties will include drafting a variety of communications products such as social media content, newsletters, website content and presentations. You will publish website content on a content management system. You will support the planning and delivery of a biannual meeting of the education advisory committee. You will also oversee the collection of program metrics and reporting, including a biannual teacher survey.

The role also includes occasional travel to conferences to engage with teachers about the program and support in the development of educational materials.

Our building at 30 Victoria Street in Gatineau is in the heart of downtown. It has modern facilities, with collaborative work spaces, indoor parking and several restaurants nearby. There’s also a locker room, shower room and secure indoor bike space that can be accessed from outside. You can take advantage of the 300-kilometre-long bike path.

Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this process is to staff 1 position for a specified period (term) with a bilingual imperative BBB/BBB linguistic profile.

A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established to fill positions at the same or equivalent group and level within the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer with varying tenures (such as specified period (term), indeterminate (permanent) and casual) with various bilingual imperative linguistic profiles.

EDUCATION
Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.

• Experience developing a variety of communication products for the general public, such as website content, social media posts, speaking notes, newsletters or brochures.
• Experience working with people outside your immediate team to respond to questions, provide support, or collaborate.

ASSET / EXPERIENCE
• Experience using web platforms to produce electronic newsletters, surveys or web pages.

• Experience working in a program related to education or outreach.
• Experience working with a diversity of groups such as those representing Indigenous people, people with disabilities, youth, new Canadians, and 2SLGBTQ+ people.
