Duties
As part of our team, you will report directly to the Maintenance Systems Supervisor and will complete daily systems checks, conduct routine maintenance & affect repairs as/when required. The Maintenance Systems Operator will maintain the upkeep of all Building Facilities, Various Heating systems, Generators, Hot Springs collection & distribution systems, Bathing Pool circulation/filtration/chemistry systems, Drinking Water & Waste Water treatment systems, surrounding grounds, parking lots, walking paths & picnic area. Tasks include; painting, plumbing, electrical, construction and carpentry work, grounds keeping, water testing, work with hazardous chemicals, computer work, data entry & trend analysis.

Intent of the process
This process will be used to staff one indeterminate (permanent) seasonal full-time position. This position works on-location in Jasper National Park from March to November, with opportunities for extension.

EDUCATION
Secondary School diploma or an acceptable combination of education, experience and training relevant to the position may be considered.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATIONS
Valid class 5 drivers’ licence
Intermediate first aid certification
EXPERIENCE
E1 – Experience in one or more of the technical functions which may include: commercial building repair/maintenance, Water and/or Wastewater systems, swimming pool maintenance, equipment repair/maintenance, plumbing, electrical and/or HVAC systems maintenance and operation.
E2 – Experience working with electronic document recording/filing systems (word, excel, cloud-based software, computers, tablets, etc.)

K1 - Knowledge of general maintenance procedures & preventive maintenance practices.
K2 - Knowledge of appropriate use, care, and maintenance of equipment.
K3 - Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety practices including a variety of general Safe work procedures.

A1 - Ability to maintain assets including not limited to buildings, generators, bathing pools, hot spring water collection and delivery systems.
A2 - Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally, both orally and in writing.
A3 - Ability to work with little to no supervision, prioritize tasks and manage time responsibly.
A4 - Ability to follow directions and implement/adapt written procedures.
A5 - Ability to maintain logs and records and use a variety of computerized systems including, Microsoft office, google docs, email, etc.

ASSET OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATIONS
AO1 – WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System), TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) and Confined Space,
AO2 - Pool Operator and/or building maintenance certification(s)
AO3 - Alberta Water & Wastewater Operators Association Water and/or Wastewater certifications
AO4 - First year or higher apprenticeship in any of the following: HVAC (Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), Refrigeration, Carpentry, Electrician or Plumber
ASSET EXPERIENCE
AE1 – Employment working in an Aquatic pool facility.
AE2 – Experience working with Building Automation systems.
AE3 – Experience working alone in remote locations and/or with little supervision.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- You must be willing to work overtime.
- You will be required to work shift-work, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays as scheduled by your delegated manager.
- You must be willing to work and travel in a variety of terrains and weather conditions in the performance of your duties.
- You will be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
- You may be required to wear a uniform while performing your duties.
- You will be required to undergo and meet requirements for a pre-placement and periodic health evaluation as outlined in Parks Canada Occupational Health Monitoring Program.
- You must be willing and able to wear required safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE); including a willingness to use SCBA equipment and work with chlorine gas and other pool chemicals.
- You must be willing to assist Lifeguards perform major first aid and water rescues under reasonable physical stresses.
- You must be willing to report to work in Jasper National Park.
- You must be willing to work in a remote location.

Possession and maintenance of a valid class 5 driver's license (Class L, N or other graduated licenses will not be accepted).
