_______________________________________________________________🏢 In line with Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) direction, the Department of National Defence has adopted a common hybrid work model where employees work at their designated worksite at least 3 days each week, or 60% of their regular schedule. Some positions may require full-time on-site presence.
In the application, you will be asked to identify the Department of National Defence location(s) from which you are interested and able to work, in person. This information will be used to fill positions where onsite presence is required to support operations, where office space is available, or to make staffing decisions that are aligned with the Common hybrid work model and Direction on Prescribed Presence in the Workplace.

A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical or similar positions with various language profiles, operational requirements, conditions of employment within various locations at the Department of National Defence, which includes the Canadian Coast Guard.
This process may also be used for temporary opportunities (actings appointments, assignments, or secondments) which may be outside your current work location. This will provide candidates from across the country the opportunity to fill temporary needs in different Department of National Defence locations, work permitting, while still adhering to the Common hybrid work model and Directive on Prescribed Presence in the Workplace.

1. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
▶ A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
▶ An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
c. Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
d. Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the AS classification.
The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.
Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the AS classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.
2. Acceptable experience and/or training in a field relevant to positions in the AS classification is required when the education qualification specified for the position being staffed is a secondary school diploma or approved employer alternatives.
