About the position

Duties
The Visitor Experience team at La Mauricie National Park is looking for a Visitor Services Attendant who will:
• Welcome visitors and provide them with relevant information about the national park.
• Plan visits for groups and individuals.
• Use a point-of-sale system, manage the cash register, collect fees, and prepare bank deposits.
• Perform periodic cleaning and maintenance of facilities.
Intent of the process
This process could be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with different employee status, security level or language requirements, in this same location or elsewhere in the country.

Conditions of employment

• Obtain and maintain a reliability security clearance;
• Hold and maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s license (mandatory).

Operational Requirements

• Perform moderate and sometimes repetitive physical effort and remain seated or standing for long periods;
• Be willing to travel and work in all types of weather conditions and on varied and sometimes remote terrain;
• Work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays;
• Agree to wear the Parks Canada uniform and required protective equipment.

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

EXPERIENCES
• Experience in providing customer service ;
• Experience using computer tools.

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of visitor services at La Mauricie National Park.
ABILITIES:
• Communicate information and regulations effectively, both orally and in writing, to visitors and staff members;
• Provide excellent visitor service and respond to situations and issues proactively and persistently;
• Manage a point-of-sale system and reservation system, and resolve minor IT issues;
• Identify hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and take appropriate measures to ensure environmental safety for oneself and others.
PERSONAL QUALITIES:
• Demonstrate integrity, loyalty, and respect;
• Critical thinking;
• Maintain a professional attitude, including in high-traffic and stressful situations;
• Work effectively with others.
