Duties
. Plan, develop and manage the information services program at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's library
. Manage and plan the financial and human resources for information services, including supervising professional staff, establishing goals and objectives, monitoring performance and motivating staff.
. Consult with clients and stakeholders to understand their business environment and to anticipate evolving information and research service requirements.
. Lead and provide expertise and strategic advice to management and colleagues on information services issues; liaise and consult with other managers to make decisions, resolve issues, coordinate activities and give input to strategic directions of the Division.
. Direct client outreach and training initiatives and prepare and deliver presentations to managers and client groups.
. Lead working groups related to information services; participate on management committees and on departmental/interdepartmental committees.
Intent of the process
A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions within Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada with various linguistic profiles and various tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, specified period, assignment, secondment) at various locations.

Education:
Graduation from a recognized university with a master's degree in Library Science, or in Library and Information Science; OR graduation from a recognized university with a Bachelor's degree in Library Science, or in Library and Information Science, for which another Bachelor's degree was a prerequisite.
Experience:
Experience in the delivery of library information services with emphasis on research.
Experience in the delivery of library information services with emphasis on analysis.
Experience in the delivery of library information services with emphasis on synthesis.
Experience in at least two of the following four management responsibilities:
-business planning;
-financial management;
-human resources management;
-organizational change.
Experience in delivering presentations to audiences such as senior management or business clients.
*Significant experience in developing outreach or client training activities for the provision of information services.
*Significant experience in providing advice and guidance to at least two of the following:
-Management;
-Partners;
-Clients;
-Other key stakeholders.
* Significant experience is normally defined as a minimum of two (2) years; however, a shorter duration may be considered based on complexity and scope of work, and level of direct responsibility demonstrated.

Asset Qualifications
Experience:
Experience in delivering information services to a scientific clientele.
Experience in delivering information services to a **business clientele.
Experience in the delivery of library information services with emphasis in research, analysis and synthesis of at least one of the following areas:
-Science and technology;
-Business**
-Industry
Experience in leading project teams.
Experience in information management services.
**"Business" is defined as activities such as (but not limited to) development of policies, development of programs, delivery of programs, research, commerce, and trade.
