What you will gain

You will have the opportunity to work within the Visitor Experience Programs of the Department of Canadian Heritage, whose mission is to provide front-line tourism information, interpretation and education services to Canadian and international visitors to Canada’s National Capital Region.

What you will do

Be an ambassador for Canada’s National Capital Region!

  • Work in an inclusive, dynamic, and creative environment
  • Interact with visitors from around the world to sites of importance to our country
  • Provide outstanding customer service in both official languages
  • Deliver guided tours, school group activities and informal presentations on various monuments and landmarks around confederation boulevard and Parliament Hill
  • Receive training on our programs, interpretation techniques and customer service which will benefit you throughout your career!
  • Develop your public speaking and presentation abilities

Duration: Full time job during the summer season from May 1 to September 4, 2023. Possibility to be rehired part-time during the 2023-2024 academic year.

What we are looking for 

To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be registered in a undergraduate program
  • Be fluently bilingual in French and English
  • Meet the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) eligibility criteria
  • Note: Preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidates must be prepared to:

  • Obtain and maintaining a Reliability Status
  • Wear and maintain a uniform
  • Work a variable schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Work overtime (as required)
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions

Additional requirements

Students are responsible for paying their own travel expenses incurred to attend any assessments. In addition, no relocation expenses will be reimbursed if a successful candidate moves as the result of an offer of student employment. Commuting expenses will be paid by the student.
